Venus and Cupid

This is my oil painting after the Spanish Baroque painter Velázquez’ masterpiece, “Venus and Cupid.”  The work shows the goddess Venus lying on the bed and looking into a mirror held by her son, the Roman god of love, Cupid.  The most challenging and fun part of the painting is to depict realistic human bodies and draperies in a mythical theme—a popular genre in the history of art.RokebyVenus
